What is a Turmeric Tonic Melt?
Turmeric Tonic Melts are a perfect way to incorporate a serving of turmeric into your daily routine. Each serving contains over 12,000 MG of whole root turmeric. All five ingredients are grown on our family farm in South Florida: Turmeric, Ginger, Black Pepper, Honey, and Lemongrass.
Until now, our turmeric tonic has been difficult to ship since it is a liquid that needs to be kept cold. Finally, we found a way to make our turmeric tonic shelf stable without adding any preservatives. We take the water out under vacuum and create a bag of Turmeric Tonic ‘cubes.’
What are the ingredients?
We grow all five ingredients on our family farm in South Florida.
We use a lot of turmeric. There is over 12,000 MG Whole Root Turmeric per serving which is over 190,000 MG total per bag.
Our ginger is both floral and potent. We use it to balance the turmeric.
Black Pepper contains piperine, which combines with the curcumin, in turmeric, to assist in absorption.
We use raw honey from our farm and other likeminded local South Florida farms.
We make a tea with lemon grass. It creates a delicious aroma.
How do I use the Melts?
- Empty one bag into shaker
2. Add water up to the 16oz mark on shaker (that’s approximately 12oz of water)
3. Place top on shaker
4. Shake until melts dissolve
5. Enjoy one ounce straight or mix with any milk for a delicious Golden Milk

Since the pandemic, we have not really eaten out that much. I love Two Chefs in South Miami. I like the Cheese Course in Pinecrest for lunch. Both are absolutely wonderful. The café at Nordstrom's is very good. And, Alaine's Osteria, on 168th, is fabulous Italian.

Not surprisingly, I’m interested in Indian food. One of my favorites is on South Dixie – called Saffron. I’ve eaten Indian food all over the world, and they have some of the best I’ve ever had. I get the paneer makhani – fried cheese with spicy sauce, malai kofta – dumpling with Indian cheese, chickpea flour and gravy. They adjust the spice level to your taste. There’s also a great appetizer with baby spinach leaves, coated in chickpea flour and fried. Another recommendation, if you need quick and cheap Indian food, there’s a place called Bollywood Masala – near the quick stop on Red Road. I get the Dal and Sambar soup. Sometimes they have fresh dosas. It’s a good deal. One dosa is really big and my wife and I can split it for a meal. They have some tables, but it’s mostly take out.

In Pinecrest: Daily Bread, Cheese Course, Joanna’s. Brickell: River Oyster Bar, the new Fleming's and for French food, Le Petite Mason. We love Crust on Miami River. It is an Italian restaurant with great food. I get their angel hair pasta with olive oil and garlic, and an arugula salad. The portions are huge – so you have to share everything.

We travel up and down Krome Avenue a lot. So, we like to frequent the nurseries and the natural fruit stands around that area. I like the Last Carrot in Coconut Grove. I've been going there since I was a teenager. It's funny that question brought me to realize how long I've been here at home and not going anywhere.

We'll use Uber eats for PF Chang's or Diced. We'll order from A Brooklyn Pizza or Steve's Pizza. We just had the new pizza on 152nd last Friday. It was my wife's birthday and we had some people over and did the whole social distancing happy hour in my yard. Everyone brought their coolers and what they wanted to drink. Pizza was great. Everyone loved the pizza place when they were in the Grove (behind Johnny Rockets).

Seasons 52. They always have stuff I can eat there. And Matsuri for Japanese - I avoid the rice and get sashimi and vegetable soup. They have a great conch that's sautéed with what seems to be green beans or maybe it's cactus.

Eating House. Get the heirloom tomato and "coconut ice" salad, their beef tartare and never miss a "Dirt Cup" for dessert.

We like Raw South like for a quick light lunch. We like Indian food, so we go to Ghee a lot. We like Glass and Vine, because the kids can play like alongside us at the park. And, we love Hillstone – it’s an oldie but a classic.

I like Coyo Taco, especially the octopus tacos. With my daughter, we go out for pizza – as it gives me a reason to have pizza. I love Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza.

I am a Palmetto Bay guy, and having a small business, I understand the need to support our small businesses. My favorite place not just to eat, but to have a beer, is Golden Rule, which is right next to my house. There's a great Italian place in Palmetto Bay called, Cafe Portofino, which I absolutely love. And, there's a pizza place called Zio Artú, which is fairly new.

Well I'm a pretty serious sushi eater and I frequently go to Sakura on US-1 and LeJeune Road. They have a large selection of great rolls but I always order Nigiri only. Which is usually raw fish over rice. I like the salmon belly, toro tuna, lean tuna and eel. I also suggest their excellent shrimp tempura. My next place is a Thai restaurant called Thai Suvi on NW 36 St in Miami Springs. I order the Ginger Snapper and fried rice. And on occasion I'll also have the Royal Thai Duck. For dessert I suggest the Thai doughnuts. They're light and fluffy.

There are so many places. Right now, we go to Bulla in the gables – it’s tapas and we get all types of different things there. There’s a restaurant on the Miami River that we like, called Crust. It’s Italian – Harvey likes their octopus salad a lot. And, their service is amazing - it’s a husband and wife team.

We enjoy supporting small local businesses in the area therefore we often frequent Shaddai Fine Lebanese Cuisine, Pinecrest Bakery, Peppers, Roasters & Toasters, Piolas, and Taco Rico. We are lucky to have these and many other good options in the area and are grateful to have them around.

If you are in Fort Lauderdale, there is a place called Green Bar. They have great vegan food. I am vegan, but once a year I have poke in Hawaii. For a good bottle of wine, go to Happy Wine in Coconut Grove. You are surrounded by wine and can sit in the middle and order some food. If you eat seafood – they have a great grilled octopus.

Some of our favorite haunts – Green Gables Café on Alhambra. They are open for lunch and have a diversified menu. There’s never a bad dish – I usually get one of the specials. Café Vialetto – off of Bird and Le June – The chef/owner is the most endearing, loving man and makes you feel like you’re at your brother’s house. Normally we get the pasta of the day – which he makes fresh. He makes great salads. I’ll order without opening the menu just by talking with him about what I am in the mood for. Izakaya for Japanese, and Blue Collar for old fashion comfort food -they have a great veggie plate.
