What's Miami's best kept secret?
Just the fact that, 'why would you want to live anywhere else?' I know we have hurricanes and stuff like that, but we are the future. We're so many nationalities living together and really not having much of a problem, where it seems like other towns do.
Bascom Palmer, Byblos, Fairchild Tropical Garden, Ghee, Lan Pan Asian, Ransom Everglades, Seasons 52, ...

Hate Mondays Tavern, which is this barbecue place here in Kendall in an industrial area. You'd never find it if you don't know about it. It's just some of the best barbecue I've ever had. It's amazing.

One of our GM's, Mary Smith, is a comedian. Whenever she performs it’s always a fun time. Sometimes it's hard to work with her though, because right in the middle of something serious - she'll make you crack up. I guess everyone needs that but we never stop laughing when she’s around.

Fairchild is one of the best kept secrets. No Name Harbor in Key Biscayne is a great spot that I don't think a lot of people know about. The steps on the backside of PAMM and the park downtown are way underutilized. It's just a beautiful setting to sit, relax and take in an afternoon.

If you’re coming down to the keys – check out Transylvania Avenue. It’s a private entrance to the ocean that will take you right into John Pennekamp park – where you don’t have to pay to get in.

What's Miami's best kept secret?
There’s a little park - kind of an unofficial dog park, and a lot of people don't know it's there - off of Schoolhouse road and Hammocks drive, off 88th. It’s this little oasis in the middle of suburbia, with dandelions and a trail. Some people get put off because they added a gate, but it's still open. It reminds me of the English countryside, the way the kids can run with the dogs. If you walk through the trails, you can get to Matheson Hammock.

Nowadays I think I would probably take them to Wynwood, because you can walk around and there's some good breweries. But it's not a big secret. It's almost becoming too touristy. We probably have to go out and explore more to try to find more local spots where we can get a good beer and see some music. Those are like little things I miss about New York, or even in smaller towns, that you can always find a little bar with some music somewhere. I wish we had more of that in Miami.
