What's Miami's best kept secret?
My mom took me yesterday to a place in Virginia Key that I had never been to. It was a really thick spot; it was a beautiful spot. You take the path up the center, it takes you right to the end. There's little Tiki huts lining the shore. You have the mangroves and everything there. If you walk up the shoreline to the north, you can see the whole city.

How many readers do you have...? I don't want to give away my secrets. One that comes to mind is Chapman Field. Right after I dropped that lettuce off with you guys Sunday, we went canoeing. I'm surprised at how many people don't know about that little canoe run. It's special. You go a little bit past the dump, there's a little parking lot there and there's an accessible canoe launch. Bring some environmentally sensitive bug repellent.

The program that Harvey goes to, during the week, is really amazing. It’s called the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Miami. People don’t know about it - we tell people all the time and encourage a lot of people to go. They have classes for 50 and older. It’s a very incredible program. They teach all different things – history, politics, music, film, art, languages – even mahjong. They have great teachers. Harvey took a class on History of South Florida by a local historian. Now, he keeps repeating a class taught by a fantastic woman who’s a PhD in International Relations. She talks about what’s going on in the world and international politics.

10,000 Islands is cool! If you drive west on 8th street, eventually you’ll get there. You can also go south – through Everglades City and rent a canoe. There’s a cool path that you can take and pop out where the mangroves open into the Gulf. You can camp out on the beach. This is the time of the year to do it.
