What keeps you busy during the week?
I've always been into food and beverage, and I have great relationships with so many amazing people in the industry. One common thing that I've heard over the years from my friends and family is, ‘when are you going to open your restaurant?’ It was an appealing idea, but at the same time, it’s an extremely hard style of business. By the end of the year that I took off, I was considering leaving law, but close friends of mine in the hospitality industry were running into issues with their business partners and landlords. I realized that I needed to start my own law firm and help the people I care about.

I am a professor of music at the University of Miami. That's what brought us here to Florida seven years ago. Previously, I was the director of bands and a professor of music at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I was there for 21 years when the University of Miami gave me a call and wanted me to take over the band program here at the University of Miami. Interestingly enough, I did my undergraduate degree at University of Miami back in the eighties. So it's been a homecoming of sorts for me to come back to my alma mater and take over the bands. Never would I have predicted that.

I am a realtor at EWM (currently transitioning to be known as Berkshire Hathaway Home Services) in Pinecrest. I got my license about four years ago. It's a great mom job. It allows me to work and still pick up the kids and be present with all the stuff they have going on. In my spare time, I love Kundalini Yoga, crafting, and recently learning about Ayurveda.

Mostly I am running our business. Now, I have a wholesale nuts and candy business called City Nut. We purchase from the companies that shell the nuts and ship them to me by the palate. We repackage and sell to local companies making products. It keeps me very busy. We sell to all the kosher stores in the three-county area, and a lot to the cruise ships in the winter.

I am a physical therapist. Initially I was introduced to physical therapy through different sports injuries that I had. I went to a small private school, so I was able to participate in a lot of different sports, baseball, track, football, basketball. Baseball was my main sport for about 13 years. I started real little and they didn't have all the regulations back then about throwing too much. I was playing year round and threw my arm out. Physical therapists helped me get stronger. I thought, that's a pretty cool gig.
