What keeps you busy during the week?
During the week, I like to work out in the mornings and play basketball, sometimes go for a ride. Then, it's work time. During the day, I'm a network consultant or an IT guy. I mostly work out of my house, which is great. I have to go to clients weekly. And then, I take the kids around, to swimming, and do all the daddy stuff.

What keeps you busy during the week?
I'm a water guy. And, growing up in Miami, I love being outdoors. I enjoyed sailing, surfing, diving, fishing, and messing around the Bay. Eventually, I went to graduate school in New Hampshire. I knew I wanted to teach and share my passion for the outdoors and I studied environmental education. As a student, I was never my best in the classroom. I was always a better student in nontraditional spaces. I was always very passionate and curious about learning, but the traditional schooling environment never inspired me. Fast forward many years, I'm still in education but mostly in my own way. As my journey continues, it's interesting for me to look back and see those parallels.

What keeps you busy during the week?
Jason: I’m living the sausage life. Mel: The last three weeks have been pretty much a blur. We just opened our first retail store, Babe’s Meat & Counter, in Palmetto Bay. We have our butcher shop set up, we make sandwiches, we’re trying to keep up with production and we’re doing farmer's markets on the weekends. We’re averaging 12-hour days, 7 days a week. We are always working together.

I was thinking of going to medical school. My father suffered with migraines and he had tried everything in the world medically possible. It wasn't helping him. At that time, we had a lot of family circle meetings and with my dad's headaches, he missed a lot of them. So, everybody was on the lookout for something they could do. One of our cousins went to a chiropractor for his lower back and, during the course of his care, asked the chiropractor if there was anything he could do for migraines. Within about six months, my dad's headaches disappeared. It was a dramatic change in the lifestyle of the whole family. I decided at that point in time that I'd go to chiropractic school. I packed up my stuff and went out to Chicago to study. And, I started the dynasty. My older brother got out of chiropractor school five years later, and my younger brother five years after that.

What keeps you busy during the week?
I'm working with a hip-hop artist out of Austin, Texas named Wolfie Warship. They're going to be releasing an album on the label that I just started. I'm making merchandise for the label out of the van as well. I have a sewing machine and different fabrics. I'll be doing patches, stickers, all sorts of stuff like that, and manufacturing and releasing music from the van. Our first release from Wolfie Warship is going to be a cassette, limited to a run of a hundred.

What keeps you busy during the week?
For work – I am doing a lot of consulting for new restaurants and personal chefing. I have previously worked as a chef and sous chef – in the hospitality field. When I first moved to Miami, I was a line cook at Michy’s for Michele Bernstein - That’s how I met Zak The Baker. She was one of the first chefs to use Zak’s bread. At that time, I wanted a second job so my chef at Michy’s introduced me to Zak. Zak said- I am opening this café, do you want to help me? So, I helped open the bakery and create the menu for the first year.

I'm an artist. I’m represented by Bernice Steinbaum Gallery. I recently installed a show that runs through December 22. The show is called Low Roads and touches on different aspects of climate change, gentrification, habitability, our place in history, and the role that both policy and personal choices make in finding a solution. Ultimately, it's a hopeful message: that people can take responsibility and take charge of the future, so we don’t become an underwater snorkeling destination.
