What's Miami's best kept secret?
Miami's got a lot of secrets; they reveal themselves every day. We have an old canoe in our yard, that's been in the family for 60 years. We recently got it back on the car and took it to Chapman Field. There's some mangrove trails back there that lead into Biscayne Bay. The water's fairly clear and you see all kinds of fish and birds, and then it opens up onto a beautiful view of the bay. It's easy access and there's a dog park and then you can go canoeing. So, you can get a lot done. It's quite a place.

If you’re coming down to the keys – check out Transylvania Avenue. It’s a private entrance to the ocean that will take you right into John Pennekamp park – where you don’t have to pay to get in.

The Ghee tasting menu for $55 is great. On the menu it says three courses – but you get several dishes for each course. They have two locations now. It’s cool to go to both, they are a little different.

It's not in Miami, but our getaway is in Palm Beach. I know our last president, made it a lot more popular and famous, but prior to him, it was a very secluded area. In my opinion, it's the prettiest beach in South Florida. And it's just an hour and a half drive away.

The rye chocolate brownies at Madruga Bakery. Naomi does something very interesting baking. She starts with organic grain and mills it at the bakery. It’s a level of freshness and authenticity you just don’t find at most bakeries. And, she adds about 10% whole wheat flour to her baguettes and her croissants – which adds more flavor than you ever thought possible. I rank Naomi as one of the best bread bakers in the country.

Senior citizens can audit and attend classes at a state university in Florida (with the instructor’s written permission) for free. But don’t tell anyone or too many people may sign up. Marc has taken lots of tropical botany and plant ID classes.

Paddle boarding out of Gables by the Sea. I love going out around the mangroves. There is also a little lake off Chapman field before you get to the ocean that’s wonderful.
