What for you is a worthy splurge?
Travel for sure. It gives me great joy when my boys talk about a trip that we took together, and they remember something, even a small thing about a trip or something someone said in a different language or something that we saw that was different from what we usually see here. It doesn't need to even be overseas. We recently went to Marco Island to spend a week. The boys talk about the animals and nature that we saw.

Time, having nothing to do. Sitting and watching a tree or sitting on my porch and just watching the leaves move.

The Standard Hotel is a little chunk of heaven. There’s a marble bathtub that you can fill with as hot water as you want. Then, you go outside and there's music underwater in the pool. And, they have good food. So if you really want to just act Miami, going to The Standard will take you there.

Heirloom seeds for the vegetable garden. I recently bought several dozen packets of unfamiliar vegetables and beans to experiment with in my backyard garden. I ordered them from rareseeds.com which I learned about through the Mother Earth news website.

What for you is a worthy splurge?
One would be anything food related. We'll splurge and get stone crabs or sushi. Our kids have also taken on sushi. My son can put down a plate of sushi, like no one's business. It's unbelievable. What started out as a this is very cute and funny has turned into a very expensive take out bill. If there's room for two, the other splurge is traveling. I think investing in experiences is truly very important.
