The Mango Festival at Fairchild. It's a great one because, being in the middle of July, most of the tourists are not here. It's a rare glimpse into the mid-summer community that remains here in Miami and interested in tropical fruits. They do a beautiful job at promoting, showcasing, and educating people about mangoes and other tropical fruits as well. The farm down in Redland is open to the public. Go down there and learn about what they're doing in connection with the garden on Old Cutler road.

I question a lot of these organizations because I find that they are not all too altruistic. I know that some assistance can be derived from these organizations, but when I want to do good for someone, I do it directly, not through an organization. I see too many people creating non-profit organizations for money in their pocket. I guess I'm jaded.

I’ve been Marie Kondo'ing my life for several years now, The Lotus House is the exclusive recipient of the excess of things I no longer care to hold onto. Human Rights Watch opened a Miami Chapter recently, I highly recommend their upcoming Voices for Justice annual dinner March 14, 2019 at the New World Center in Miami Beach.

I volunteer coach at South Miami United Football Club. I'm a booster for Coral Gables Senior High School athletics. But, I started going to city hall meetings when there was talk of converting a neighborhood park. It was my first foray into city hall meetings and stuff and I saw that really we're not getting the best people for these positions. I think it's important that we realize that it takes a group, and once you get a group of voices together there's a lot of power.

Of course, I want to shout out Breakthrough Miami. The Scholar Celebration is always one of my favorites. It's a non-sit-down cocktail dinner party that is interactive and brings together five of Miami's best independent schools and their supporters for a common cause. The Ayiti Trust is a new player in town and I love supporting them. And, Give Miami Day is coming up and I think it is really so amazing that our community can, on one day, donate and support so many great causes. Collectively it makes our community feel connected because we give from our hearts and from our wallets and we raise millions of dollars and that's an awesome thing. And the Seed School of Miami is on that list!
