We like visiting and supporting our theaters, art shows, museums, and historical sites. We promote and enjoy the diversity here (Miami) in the Arts.

On February 22nd, we're having the first ever great Coral Gables scavenger hunt. It's starting at the Coral Gables museum around noon. You'll meet at the museum, get your clues, head out across the city with your crew or by yourself, fill out your sheet, get all your answers, and come back to the museum. We'll have some libations and some prizes and it's going to be a lot of fun.

The University of Miami does have outward facing events sometimes that I think are really great. Even within the school of architecture, we have public reviews - which just passed. I think those are really interesting and should appeal to a broader community and group. What you would have discovered is that almost the entire cluster of students was doing work, that was not just about the production of architecture, but had a real earnest agenda towards changing in the world. Now, questions of resiliency, sustainability, and social justice are part of the education here and part of what my students are concerned and care about.

I’m very involved in Parkinsons awareness. I’m involved with the NPF’s South Florida Chapter (http://www.parkinson.org) and Moving Day® Miami (https://movingdaywalk.org/event/moving-day-miami)

I've always been a follower of the Salvation Army. Also Emily's list. To help the ACLU is automatic. They are down on all the things that are unjust. And, everything that has to do with eyes because of my vision problems.

We are active members of our temple, Beth Shalom on Miami beach. Itamae had the privilege of participating with World Central Kitchen, preparing meals for first responders and others with food insecurities during the pandemic. That was something that just felt good. Also, my wife and I are very supportive of the social justice issues that are front and center today in the media. I think that America is in the crossroads. We need to live up to our ideals and standards and we really need to fight and make sure that all voices are heard. I am a proud 'girl dad.' I want my daughters to have a better America and a better place than what we have today. I'm tired of black people being killed for trivial reasons. We need to make it right for everybody. I'm not saying I have the answers, but I know that we need to start taking concrete, real steps. It's just time, I'm tired of it.

I'm not involved with anything, per se right now, but as a bakery we love to support. Many of our customers are involved in so many things, and we support as much as we can. We've had trouble finding a constant place to donate leftovers. We'll always try to give it away some way.

Elizabeth: The Tropical Audubon Society. Also, Slow Food Miami is near and dear to my heart. The Whitman Woods Project is my life. It is a conservation project in Laurel Springs, NJ where Walt Whitman spent his twilight years and did a great deal of writing. We're attempting to convert 3.75 acres of land and conservation in his name and bring nature, art, science, and poetry into one place as a gathering spot for the communities. Also, The Miami Dolphins Foundation. They focus on Health and Education and 'leveling the playing field through the power of teamwork to inspire a healthier, more educated and united South Florida community.'

We're fairly new and have not gotten formally involved in a lot of things yet, but William and Martina are into nature Conservancy and the bird sanctuary. We're going to look into joining those kinds of organizations and doing some activities to help animals in need and possibly helping clean up the beach.
