Name(s)?
Will and Allison

Where do you live?
We both live in Brickell.

How long have you lived in the area?
Will was born and raised in Miami (Miami Beach) and Allison moved to Miami just over 4 years ago.

Where are you originally from and what brought you to town?
Will is from Miami Beach. Allison is originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Please share about what you do for a livelihood or what keeps you busy during the week?
Allison works for a financial planning firm and Will is a property and casualty insurance agent. We both love to run, hang out with friends and family, Citibike around Miami, and cruise around Biscayne Bay.

How often do you come to the market?
Whenever we are not travelling, you can find us at the market on Sundays!

Do you have a market ritual? If so, please describe.  Yasssss, first stop is always LNB! Will gets a Dragon Passion and Allison gets either a Jackson or a Tropikale. We also get guacamole (in season) and turmeric tonic (quantity depends on how many jack & cokes Will had the night before). After LNB we head to Babe Froman for a bowl or breakfast sandwich and to Eat Da Bone BBQ for chicken on a stick or pulled pork.  Allison’s market ritual includes documenting (stalking?) every dog in sight via SnapChat and/or Instagram.

What’s your favorite thing to buy at LNB Grovestand and why?
Definitely the smoothies because they are fresh and delicious! Turmeric tonic would be a close 2nd.

What have you made with ingredients bought at LNB Grovestand?
We usually just eat whatever we buy immediately, rarely does LNB’s food make it back home….

What’s your favorite thing to buy at other stands at the market?
Big fans of the Gyros, kettle corn, and hibachi bowls, along with the others listed above.  Allison really enjoys the vegan stations and ZTB Almond Croissants.

For parents: A favorite activity we enjoy with our kids?
No kiddos!

The best deal at the market is:
Not sure if there is one, but everything is great quality so no complaints here.

I wish the market had:
Local craft beer, wine and fresh meats.

Favorite market story:
Not sure if we have one, but about every other time we are at the market we run into one of Will’s family members (either father, brother, cousin, aunt, stepmom) unexpectedly. It’s always a fun treat to see family unexpectedly!

Most-frequented local restaurants and what dish to order:
Bombay Darbar: Mango Curry chicken and Butter Chicken. Threefold Cafe: Everything! (but seriously: Smashed Avo, Chickie Babe, Beef short rib). Don Gloton: Chicken cachapa and reina pepiada arepa.

For special occasions, I go to:
Perricone’s (it’s where we had our first date)

Do you have a family recipe that you would be willing share?
Will’s aunt is a chef, but she keeps all of her recipes hush-hush (unfortunately!).

What’s the area’s best-kept secret?
Well, if we told ya, it wouldn’t be a secret, would it?

A worthy splurge:
Donations/charity events or [insert the name of any high priced exercise place here, including, but not limited to: Soul CycleFlyWheelBarry’s Bootcamp]

Rainy-day activity:
Netflix and Chill, phone calls to friends far away, clean/reorganize (Allison’s favorite)

The most romantic spot around:
Stiltsville at sunset

I wish you had asked me about:
Why we buy from LNB Groves?

A+W: Will and Allison – We hope to see you tomorrow and will be sure to ask! 😊

Do you participate in any community or philanthropic events that you would like to share?
Absolutely!  We are both involved with The Woody Foundation, a local non-profit named after Woody Beckham (Will’s brother) who was paralyzed making a rugby tackle in 2011. Since its inception, the foundation has donated over $1 million to numerous people and organizations in order to improve the quality of life for people living with spinal cord injuries. We have our annual spearfishing tournament coming up in a few weeks, everybody is invited to come and participate! (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/7th-annual-lionfish-bash-tickets-34031478067#tickets) The Woody Foundation also holds an annual golf tournament, lobster dinner, and free benefit concert called Woodystock.

Do you own your own business or offer a service? Would you share a pitch about yourself or company with the community?
Will works with his family’s insurance agency called JM Private Insurance. Will’s family has been in the insurance business in Miami since 1932 when Will’s great uncle opened an insurance agency in downtown Miami. If any fellow LNB lovers need help with their business insurance or homeowners insurance, Will is happy to help.

Is there a question that you would like to ask the LNBs?
Allison wants to know how Walt and Adena met? Also, do y’all have any kids aka extra farmhands?

A+W:  We knew each other as kids but were out of touch for 15 years. Interestingly, that whole time, our families got together for all big holidays. In the Ellenby (LNB) family, there was a standing question of which of their three daughters would marry one of the three Chefitz boys.  We re-met in 2011 – it was Mitch’s (Walt’s dad) birthday and Passover Seder. Walt was in town from NYC and Adena was in Mitch and Walli’s kitchen cooking. (In addition to being a farmer, Adena is a Johnson & Wales trained chef.) Adena had just moved back from Belize with her son Mateo (Now eight years old and a great farmhand).   After a year of daily Skyping and lots of trips, Walt moved back to Miami – and Adena’s parents had their answer.
