Name(s)?
David and Helen, Natalie, Sabrina and Hailey

Where do you live?
Gables By The Sea

How long have you lived in the area?
I am a native Floridian, but have lived in Miami for the past 20 years.

Where are you originally from and what brought you to town?
I was born in Miami and my wife, Helen, is from New York. She came here to attend Law School at the University of Miami where we met and fell in love.

Please share about what you do for a livelihood or what keeps you busy during the week?
I own my own business, The Farber Law Firm.  We are a Coral Gables law firm that mostly handles insurance coverage cases/disputes and serious personal injury cases. We also assist corporations of all sizes with maintaining, protecting, and preserving their established businesses through trademarks, copyrights, litigation, contracts, and brand/asset management.

How often do you come to the market?
Every other weekend.

Do you have a market ritual?
If so, please describe.  We generally grab a pizza, poke bowl, and jerk chicken and buy our supplies of Orchids, flowers, vegetables, Turmeric Tonic, and bread from Zak the Baker.

What’s your favorite thing to buy at LNB Grovestand and why?
The smoothies are great, but the Turmeric Tonic is fantastic.  I must have a large jar in my refrigerator at all times.  I drink an 8 oz cup every morning.

What have you made with ingredients bought at LNB Grovestand?
You don’t mess with perfection. I let Walt and Adena make all the goodies.

What’s your favorite thing to buy at other stands at the market?
Pizza, vegetables, poke bowl, lemon ice, flowers, orchids, bread from Zak the Baker.

For parents: A favorite activity we enjoy with our kids?
Walking around the market on Sunday, going to Gymboree, soccer games, gymnastics, and boating.

The best deal at the market is:
Not sure I can say deal.  I value quality, freshness, and local products and am willing to pay more to support my health and local community.

I wish the market had:
Those 5-15-minute massages or child care?!

Favorite market story:
Meeting new and interesting people on each visit and being asked by Walt to answer questions regarding Hurricane Irma losses which prompted me to set up a table up front and join the Farmers Market as a resource to our community.

Most-frequented local restaurants and what dish to order:
Aromas de Peru, Coral Gables – ceviche.

For special occasions, I go to:
Morton’s

What’s the area’s best-kept secret?
If I were to tell you, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.

A worthy splurge:
Traveling with my family.

Rainy-day activity:
Movies or board games.

The most romantic spot around:
Red Fish Grill

A+W: Sadly this one will be missed. Are they planning to rebuild? It surely is one of the best locations in Miami… (when there are no hurricanes).

Do you participate in any community or philanthropic events that you would like to share?
The Farber Law Firm is thrilled to be a Featured Sponsor of the upcoming LIVE ULTIMATE SEED FOOD & WINE 5K RUN. Hosted by NBA legend Ray Allen on Saturday November 4th in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami, 100% of proceeds will be donated to Jennifer Lopez’s charity Somos Una Voz, a charity formed by an alliance of artists focused on rushing much needed aid to those affected by recent Hurricanes. The event will also be held in conjunction with the Seed Food & Wine Week at Mana Wynwood Convention Center.

A+W: We will be at the Slow Food Miami Booth at Seed Food & Wine on Saturday.

Do you own your own business or offer a service? Would you share a pitch about yourself or company with the community?
I was an insurance defense attorney for many years and have learned the ins and outs of how insurance companies value cases and it’s defenses.  With that knowledge, I have been representing plaintiffs (members of our community and folks throughout the State of Florida) on a contingency basis (meaning I don’t get paid unless I recover you monies) for the past 11 years.  Being a plaintiff’s attorney provides me with the opportunity to give a voice to those aggrieved and stand up against giants of business to obtain justice.  I am proud to be a lawyer and make a difference to those I represent and to be catalyst for change to protect others in the future.

At The Farber Law Firm, we represent residential and commercial policyholders, victims of a personal injury, and businesses.  More specifically, we handle policyholders’ denied and underpaid insurance losses; damage from fire, hurricane, water, pipe break, wind and many others.  In fact and very prevalent in Coral Gables and Pinecrest are cast iron sanitary line pipe breaks/claims where water backs up and damages a home.  These claims are routinely improperly denied and/or underpaid. From a personal injury perspective, we handle, on behalf of accident victims, cases concerning automobile, trucking, motorcycle, bicycle accidents, premise liability, slip/trip and fall, negligent security, nursing home abuse, dog bites, and wrongful death.  We also assist corporations of all sizes with maintaining, protecting, and preserving their established businesses through trademarks, copyrights, litigation, contracts, and brand/asset management.

Is there a question that you would like to ask the LNBs?
How do you make the Tonic so tasty? I tried once with the ingredients listed, but I missed the mark horribly.

A+W: We use ingredients grown on our farm.

Is there a question that you would like to ask the community?
What is the most important thing you think is important when hiring a lawyer for a personal injury or insurance claim/dispute matter and how can I be of greater service to you?
