What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend? We enjoy a lot of them. Recently, we went to Balloo. I really love Caribbean food and they're doing it so cool. It's real small and they don't take reservations, but the food is top-notch and exciting. They had big a pickled slab of chayote squash with this delicious sweet and spicy chutney. I'm fascinated by and have always wanted to grow chayote. I like to see it on a menu sort of showcased like that. We always make our way out to 27 and Mandolin is always one of our favorites. Boia De is really nice, that's sort of near us. Then there are a couple Mexican places down in Homestead that are good. They're almost all in gas stations. 5 Hermanos on 272 and Krome. It's a food truck at a gas station with a couple of tents.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend?I am a Palmetto Bay guy, and having a small business, I understand the need to support our small businesses. My favorite place not just to eat, but to have a beer, is Golden Rule, which is right next to my house. There's a great Italian place in Palmetto Bay called, Cafe Portofino, which I absolutely love. And, there's a pizza place called Zio Artú, which is fairly new.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend?I'll give some shout outs. My friend Josh from Premium Meats is in the wagyu business. He's gone from being an incredible host where you would get meat from his house. And now, he's in the Bird Road Arts District. He started by ordering wagyu beef for himself, and then thought his friends would like some too. He's got a real passion for it and he's happy to talk any cut of cow. I want to frequent places where the passion is coming from the owner like that because it's gonna bleed into the bite or the sip that you have.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend?27 is a unique place in Miami. When people are in town, it’s where we go. It’s a fun, cozy – not fancy, they have great cocktails. I am pretty simple – I really like Lucali for pizza on Sunset Harbor. I would be happy to go there for my birthday and just have a pizza. I also think what Jeremy Ford is doing at Stubborn Seedis beautifully plated and tasty and good for a special occasion.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend? We just went to Peacock Garden in Coconut Grove. That was really good. Laura loved it. We went to Bakan in Wynwood, I enjoyed that. We always like Steve's Pizza. I'm kind of a pizza snob being from New York. That's the closest we've come to finding good New York pizza.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend?I try to cook most of the meals at home. If we go out to eat, I've got one vegan and one vegetarian. So we go to places that can accommodate that. A lot of them are in Design District or beach and usually restaurants that I've worked on. For a special occasion, there's a place called Planta in Miami Beach. Everything on the menu is plant-based.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend? There’s no local outlet for bands to play down south. Right now, you have to go north to Wynwood or downtown. There’s a place called Las Rosas. It’s good for bands as it’s easy to load in and out and the sound is great. Also, Churchill's – which is a British pub in North East. They have good punk shows.
What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend?I love St Roch Food Hall in the Design District. I love Vietnamese noodle soup, and there's a stand with great pho and bahn mi sandwiches. And then, there's an Israeli street food place across the way from them that has this great whole roasted cauliflower with amazing dipping sauces. And then, there is another seafood place there with a fantastic mahi-mahi sandwich with shaved fennel. One of my favorites is Michael's Genuine. It's old school, but so far I haven't found anything to replace it. Michael is a really nice guy. They also have a roasted cauliflower dish with a parsley sauce that is amazing.
